Bright colors, high energy, a great cultural program and most importantly a wonderful group of people filled the hall at
Mayuri for the 1st
Diwali event organized by IISc AANA SV Chapter last weekend (Dec 9th 2007). Ashok Sinha, Chairman IISc AANA Silicon Valley chapter, summed up the event "Simply, the event was awesome."
This year´s event, which included a graceful lakshmi dance, a humorous skit, an
insightful presentation by Paul Singh (a serial entrepreneur), musical bingo, karaoke music held the audience captive. The cultural committee, Anita, Vipin did a great job putting it all together. Lots of planning and practice for almost two months in spite of all odds ensured the program was memorable. Aparna Gunupudi used her contacts to get us great professionals to do the lakshmi dance. In the end the effort that went into organizing the event was all worth it. Four hours seemed to pass in no time and it was with difficultly that people started moving out. The food at Mayuri was excellent also.
Sesha (ME'95) said the evening gave us a chance to connect with folks in academics and the industry. "The speech by Paul was quite insightful and the skit & dances were refreshing. The event was professionally organized. I had a great time."
The event was sponsored by the core committee members and the aim of such events is to include more people in to the organization. The global conference last June proved that nothing is beyond us and we are hoping to climb larger mountains on the shoulders of the alumni in the valley. Looking forward to more participation in future events.
